Kaeru signifie \u00e0 la fois \u00ab crapaud \u00bb\u00a0 ou \u00ab grenouille \u00bb et \u00ab revenir \u00e0 la maison \u00bb en japonais. Cette extension de sens est due \u00e0 la facult\u00e9 qu\u2019a le crapaud de revenir chaque ann\u00e9e \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9tang de sa naissance. The toad or frog (kaeru) is associated with good luck and wealth. Kaeru means both \u00ab\u00a0toad\u00a0\u00bb or \u00ab\u00a0frog\u00a0\u00bb and \u00ab\u00a0to come home\u00a0\u00bb in Japanese. This extension of meaning is due to the toad’s ability to return each year to the pond of its birth. A gong in the shape of a toad can thus sometimes be used as a door hammer or to protect a house.\u00a0<\/p>\n
