Le couvercle bomb\u00e9 est surmont\u00e9 d\u2019une figure assise en bronze dor\u00e9. Les l\u00e8vres et le tour du couvercle sont soulign\u00e9s par une motif floral en bleu sous couverte dispos\u00e9 en frise, rehauss\u00e9 de dorure et ponctu\u00e9 de petits cartouches.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Les anses, en porcelaine dor\u00e9, \u00e9voquent un motif v\u00e9g\u00e9tal.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

La palette Imari, cr\u00e9ation des potiers d’Arita au XVII\u00e8me<\/sup>\u00a0si\u00e8cle, \u00e9tait largement utilis\u00e9e pour le d\u00e9cor des porcelaines destin\u00e9es \u00e0 l’exportation.<\/span><\/p>\n

Elle tient son nom du port de Kyushu depuis lequel ces porcelaines \u00e9taient export\u00e9es vers l’Europe. La palette, appliqu\u00e9e sur le fond blanc de la porcelaine, est compos\u00e9e de trois \u00e9l\u00e9ments principaux : du bleu de cobalt sous couverte, de l’\u00e9mail rouge de fer et de la dorure (ces derniers \u00e9tant appliqu\u00e9s sur la couverte). \u00c0 la suite d’une s\u00e9rie de mesures isolationnistes prises par le gouvernement shogunal entre 1629 et 1639, seuls les Hollandais et les Chinois furent autoris\u00e9s \u00e0 continuer \u00e0 commercer avec le Japon dans le port de Nagasaki. Profitant de cette interruption, les artisans de Jingdezhen imit\u00e8rent les d\u00e9cors r\u00e9alis\u00e9s par les potiers d’Arita auxquels la client\u00e8le europ\u00e9enne s’\u00e9tait habitu\u00e9e.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The\u00a0Imari\u00a0<\/i>palette was devised by Arita’s potters in the XVIIth<\/sup>\u00a0century and was subsequently widely used for the decoration of export porcelains. Imari porcelains mostly feature floral designs.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The palette was named after the port in Kyushu from which the porcelains were exported to Europe.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It consists of three main elements applied on the naturally white surface of the porcelain : cobalt underglaze blue, iron-red overglaze enamel and gilt (the latter is also applied over the glaze).Following a series of isolationist measures taken by the shogunate government between 1629 and 1639, only the Dutch and Chinese were allowed to continue trading with Japan in the port of Nagasaki. Taking advantage of this interruption, the artisans of Jingdezhen imitated the decorations made by the potters of Arita to which the European customers had become accustomed.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
