La palette, appliqu\u00e9e sur le fond blanc de la porcelaine, est compos\u00e9e de trois \u00e9l\u00e9ments principaux : du bleu de cobalt sous couverte, de l&rsquo;\u00e9mail rouge de fer et de la dorure (ces derniers \u00e9tant appliqu\u00e9s sur la couverte). \u00c0 la suite d&rsquo;une s\u00e9rie de mesures isolationnistes prises par le gouvernement shogunal entre 1629 et 1639, seuls les Hollandais et les Chinois furent autoris\u00e9s \u00e0 continuer \u00e0 commercer avec le Japon dans le port de Nagasaki.
