Cet exceptionnel lustre en bronze patin\u00e9 illustre un des aspects stylistiques les plus importants des arts d\u00e9coratifs europ\u00e9ens de la deuxi\u00e8me moiti\u00e9 du XIXe si\u00e8cle : la production d\u2019objets d\u2019art inspir\u00e9s de l\u2019Antiquit\u00e9 grecque et romaine. Compos\u00e9 de quatre lampes \u00e0 huile surmont\u00e9 de figures de chim\u00e8res, de t\u00eates d\u2019oiseaux et de motifs de palmettes. Portant l\u2019estampille de la fonderie Chiurazzi, il constitue un magnifique t\u00e9moignage du savoir-faire des artisans napolitains de la fin du XIXe si\u00e8cle.<\/p>\n
Il est issu de la production de la c\u00e9l\u00e8bre dynastie de fondeurs italiens, les Chiurazzi. Son fondateur, Gennaro Chiurazzi (1842 1906) d\u00e9veloppa l\u2019activit\u00e9 essentiellement tourn\u00e9e vers la reproduction de petits bronzes et d\u2019oeuvres d\u2019art conserv\u00e9s dans les mus\u00e9es de Naples.<\/p>\n
En 1891, probablement \u00e0 cause de l\u2019intensification de l\u2019activit\u00e9 de son propre atelier, Chiurazzi ouvrit aussi une premi\u00e8re salle d\u2019exposition de sa production place des Martyrs \u00e0 Naples et en 1894, une seconde plus importante sous la Galerie du Prince.<\/p>\n
L\u2019ann\u00e9e suivante, en 1895, il associa \u00e0 la direction de la fonderie ses deux fils, Federico (1870-1951) et Salvatore (1872-1941). Les Chiurazzi cr\u00e9\u00e8rent \u00e9galement, peu avant 1925, une seconde fonderie \u00e0 Rome, via Baldissera, (d\u00e9truite durant la seconde guerre mondiale) qui a \u00e9t\u00e9 charg\u00e9e en particulier de la fonte du quadrige de Carlo Fontana pour le monument \u00e0 Victor Emmanuel II et de l\u2019ouverture, toujours \u00e0 Rome d\u2019une salle d\u2019exposition et de vente via del Babuino.<\/p>\n

The Chiurazzis were a famous dynasty of italian art caster. The founder of the Chiurazzi foundry, Gennaro Chiurazzi (1842 1906) developped its activity exclusively around the reproductions of works helded by the napolitan museums.<\/p>\n
In 1891, thanks to the success of his firm, he inaugurated his first showroom at the Piazza dei Martiri in Napoli and opened a second one in 1894 in the Galleria Principe di Napoli. In 1895, his two sons, Federico (1870-1951) and Salvatore (1872-1941) joined him at the head of the foundry. A second foundry created in Rome in 1925 was charged of the casting of Carlo Fontana\u2019s quadriga for Victor-Emmanuel II\u2019s monument.
