Description
Sandstone head of Dvarapala(?). Bayon style, 12th-13th century.
Bayon is in the centre of the ancient city of Angkor THOM, capital of the Khmer rulers in the 12th and 13th centuries.
Dvarapala, the guardian of Buddhist and Hindu temple gates, can be represented in human or devil form, sometimes wearing a club, a spear or a trident.
A few lacks, but nice impression.
