18th Century Edo Cabinet
18th century work.
Edo cabinet in Japanese black lacquered wood with Japanese decoration in relief, lake landscapes, architecture and animal decoration.
It is surrounded by black and gold friezes of stylized flowers.
This cabinet opens on the front with two doors, revealing five drawers, one of which is long in the lower part. They are all decorated with stylized flowers and surrounded by geometric shapes. Each consists of a gilt bronze handle depicting stylized leaves.
The interior of the doors is represented by birds placed on foliage.
The landscape of the lake and architecture of the cover is surrounded by stylized foliage and ribbons and Japanese cranes in flight, symbols of luck, peace, longevity and hope.
the cabinet is finished in its lower part by a molded plain also figured with stylized flowers in geometric patterns. And rests on a rear regency style base in gilded wood, with four curved legs chiseled with acanthus leaves and geometric patterns.
Handles and hinges of the doors in gilded bronze.
