About

About

Founded in 1999 by Karl Lagerfeld, Librairie 7L is dedicated to new publications in the visual arts, including photography, architecture, design, lifestyle, fashion, and gardens.

Located at 7 rue de Lille in Paris's 7th arrondissement, within the Carré des Antiquaires—a neighborhood shared by collectors, interior designers, and architects—the bookshop offers visitors a vibrant cultural space that perpetuates the eclecticism and intellectual curiosity of its founder. Its carefully curated selection of French and international art books and major exhibition catalogues reflects the richness and diversity of contemporary publishing through a distinctive editorial vision.

In 2021, Librairie 7L was acquired by CHANEL.

Today, 7L spans over 700 square metres and encompasses three complementary activities: the bookshop, an on-site creative programme centred around the library space, and Éditions 7L, its publishing house.

While the bookshop is open to the public, the library platform—formerly Karl Lagerfeld's photographic studio—remains a private space reserved for the Friends of 7L.

It continues its creative vocation through a cultural programme entitled Correspondances, dedicated to literary and artistic practices surrounding the book, as well as a monthly Reading Salon celebrating Karl Lagerfeld's distinctive art of living.
